Loads of fun The plays proved to be a new year treat.
Visakha Humour Club presented a show in Kalabharathi of a score of structured skits of 5 to 10 minutes either with characters seriously involved with the happenings in day to day life or punning on the dialogues proved to be showcases of loads of fun . It turned out to be a most joyous celebration of the advent of the New Year.
A skit depicting a bride who boasts that all her paternal relations never bow their heads turning out to be instances not of any glory but chronic spondilitis. Another one on pronunciation of the letter C as K in words carrying different denotations and the like were the highlights. Out of the 20-odd artists, involved, the secretary of the club Prabhakar, S.S. Ramanujam, guest artist cine comedian Kallu Chidambaram, E. Bhanu Prakash, K.V. Sivaramakrishna, Nagesh and Sivajyothi acted.
Rayaprolu Annapoorna, a post graduate in music, rendered a vocal recital in Sankaramatham recently for Sri Vijaya Tyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha. Warming up with the rendering of Kalagani Varnam, Mahaganapathim (Naata) and Pahimam Rajarajeswari (Janaranjani) adorned with swaram and Balakanakamayachela (Athana), she elaborated Sitamma aayamma (Vasantha), Bantureethi (Hamsanaadam) and expansively aamaakshi with neravu (Simhendramadhyamam) with pleasantly poised intoning. K.V.S. Prasad on violin and P. Meher Sagar on mridangam lent support.
