Slide Show: Bruce Almighty Photocall & Premiere

In Jim Carrey we trust. Thankfully, we have Morgan Freeman too to help this otherwise tacky movie to come to the watchable realm. Like call JC's movies, this one has a generous dose of slapstick alright, but the novel storyline (though the handling screws it up) and his antics saves the day. Oh yeah, this time around don't frown at yourself if you find muttering the various drawls of Beeeeooooteeeful a la Jimmy boy in the movie. Catching a few of his stupid phrases is one of the hazards of watching his movie. Bruce Almighty gives Jim ample opportunity to be funny both in the verbal and his body language way.

Jim plays Bruce Nolan, a broadcast news reporter who's been patiently waiting his turn for the next promotion. Meanwhile his girlfriend too tries to add to his life's miseries by harharing him all the time. One fine day, all hell breaks loose when Bruce's lesser-talented colleague moves up the hierarchy. Bruce now derides God. Surprise surprise, God actually summons Bruce boy for a meeting. At the end of the hectic parleying, God gives Bruce the power to be the almighty, so that he gets a first hand work ex with God's job profile.

Watch out for some hilarious moments here when Bruce tries to test his new-found powers. Well, once he is invested with the power, he takes on…no not the world..but his management to get his job back. Now, aren't you disappointed? That bit of lowbrow thought is what robs the movie of its pleasure.

As long as you don't really believe Bruce is really the Almighty, the movie is fun and watchable. Despite his antics, Jim is endearing. Freeman too steals you heart with his subtle voice modulation. If in Jim you trust, go for this.
