It IS yet another Tom Arnold movie, though we haven`t seen much of it here in India. He has been seen a lot on Star movies.

Carpool tries to jerk laughs out of a robbery-and-hostage situation involving a car full of children. Paymer plays a cranky, workaholic, advertising executive whose carpooling van is hijacked by a nearly bankrupt carnival owner (Tom Arnold). The entire film is a comic car chase and all this togetherness somehow makes Paymer`s character see the light and want to spend more time with his kids.

It`s the kind of "family movie," stuffed with calculated heart warmers that are apparently intended to make up for the more distasteful or repetitious scenes. Paymer looks a bit out of place in this movie. He has been seen playing more serious roles and here he looks as if he has been hit by a brick, the brick being Tom Arnold.

The movie is a roller coaster ride with Arnold in the lead packed in with a handful of kids to add more rip-roaring screaming effects. But the scene-stealer is Tom`s mom; she is the funniest person in the movie. This kind of a movie is fun to watch with kids

Carpool was made in 1996 but it seems Warner Bros. were waiting for the right time to release it.
