Enough is another installment in the “Jennifer Lopez can act...Seriously!” series. While she has made a commendable effort on her part, the director and scriptwriter have done such a shoddy job that Enough looks like a cure for insomnia.

Slim (Jennifer Lopez) is a young waitress in a diner, with her friend Ginny (Juliette Lewis), harboring dreams of going to law school and doing something with her life. An incident brings her into contact with Mitch Hiller (Billy Campbell). The story moves to a period later when they are happily married and have a cute daughter Gracie (Tessa Allen). A while later, matters turn for the worse when she discovers an affair that he is having. When accosted, he says he’ll break it off but when Slim finds out that he is still cheating on her, his true (yet exaggerated) male self comes out and she is now in an abusive relationship. She tries to escape with the help of her friends but Mitch somehow keeps tracking her down with his connections in law enforcement. When Slim finally has enough of running away every time, she consults a lawyer and he tells her that it is probably too late and even if she divorces Mitch, she would probably not have custody of her daughter. Finally, she decides that the only way to get out of the quandary is to kill Mitch and make it look like an accident. This she does successfully after a crash martial arts training and some careful planning.

Enough is a movie of scriptural exaggeration in which a tame and submissive housewife turns into a (female) Jackie Chan. J. Lo has done a decent acting job here but unfortunately due to her lack of talent while choosing movies, she will always be known for her insured bottom and voice rather than emoting. The movie drags along for its two hours. On a more positive note, however, it brings the issue of domestic abuse to everyone. Eventually, every female sufferer should take her abuser to task or bear that cross forever. Enough is a movie for more mature audiences due to its basic context but not moving enough to waste your ticket money on.
