Shankar S TIRED of all the mush or dishoom movies? Here`s your chance to see something hatke. Frequency deals with the concept of what would happen to our lives if we were given a chance to travel back in time. The Story: As he starts talking on the radio, he finds himself chatting with a man who claims to be a fire-fighter, whose address coincides with his own and who claims to be based in1969. John feels that he has established contact with his dad, three decades back. Thus, starts an endeavour to undo the events of the past. So, what John does is rescue his dad from the fire, which had killed him. He also takes his fathers help to solve a string of serial murders, and prevents the murder of his wife in the process. And from there on, begins a series of undoing of events. Whether or not, John manages to undo the painful events of his past is what Frequency is all about. A plot of this nature can turn wacko quite easily, but to director Gregory Hoblit`s credit, for most of the film, he maintains a grip over the pace and plot of the film. The way he makes the film flit between these two time zones is commendable. It almost appears real and one does tend to get drawn into the film and the suspense it holds. Ample credit has to be given to key actors Dennis Quaid and especially Jim Caviezel. Their convincing performances hold the movie together. All those interested in thought provoking entertainment should tune into Frequency. |
