SERIALS Mirinda College Da (SS Music, Friday, 5 p.m.)

Mirinda College Da this time profiles the Sri Subramaniya Nadar College or the SSN College which is spread across 200 acres on the OMR. The college boasts state-of-the-art computer centres, workshops and labs, seminar halls and libraries. It has an impressive basketball court too.

There are also other attractions on the channel this week — “First Frame-1”, “Challenge”, “Cinema Central” and “First Frame-2”.

Director Mysskin who has two hits (“Chithiram Pesudhadi” and “Anjaadhae”) to his credit, dons the greasepaint for “Nandhalala”, his third film, which has an offbeat theme. In “First Frame-1” (Friday, 5.30 p.m.), you can see the launch of the film.

As the tasks on “Challenge” (Friday, 8.30 p.m.) get more daring, it’s gratifying to see that women are not far behind. One female participant displays her steely resolve when she lies on a bed of broken glass pieces and challenges a motorbike to go over her!

“Cinema Central” (Sunday, 5 p.m.) this time features director Raja who specialises in remakes, all of which have become commercial hits.

Vinay who scored a hit with his first film “Unnale Unnale” now acts in “Jayam Kondan”. The movie is directed by Mani Ratnam’s assistant R. Kannan. Catch the audio launch of the film on “First Frame-2” on Sunday, 9.30 p.m.

G.V.Sica Awards (Jaya TV, Sunday, 2 p.m. and on June 22)

Enjoy a recap of a star-studded award function organised on behalf of the South Indian Cinematographers Association (SICA). Celebrities from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi filmdom graced the show. The awards were given to those who have excelled in their respective fields, viz., actors, comedians, cinematographers, directors, etc.

Super Dancer 2 (Sun TV, Saturdays, 9.30 p.m.)

This show for aspiring dancers has reached its quarter finals. The preliminary round saw talents chosen from six cities for which auditions were conducted at Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchi, Tirunelveli and Salem. Among those selected in the audition round, 12 for solo category and 12 for duo category, were shortlisted. Out of these, seven in solo segment and seven in duo segment made it to the quarter finals.

The winner of the title, Super Dancer, will be chosen based on public voting and evaluation by the judges, actors Malavika and Jothilakshmi and choreographer Lalitha Mani. For more updates log on to www.superdancer.in.

New game show

Come July, Makkal TV rolls out a new game show for book lovers, ‘Puthagam Padi, Parisai Pidi’ on weekdays. Besides learning new words, the participants can win books as prizes for each right answer. Questions will be based on general knowledge and current affairs. And Mala is back after a hiatus as the anchor of the show. Tune in to check your IQ.

Pyramid Saimira Productions launches a serial for kids "Super Sundari". After He-man, Superman, Sakthiman and other comic book heroes, it is now Super Sundari who will provide action, comedy and drama. The serial features Uma Riyaz, Oorvambu Lakshmi, Vasu Vikram, Lollu Sabha Saminathan, Crazy Kumar, Alex Pandian, and talented child artistes. From being an energetic housewife and imbecile village lass to being Super Sundari, Uma Riyaz, the protagonist, plays different characters through the week coming up with a spectacular performance. Mohan directs the serial.
