No way. It’s a climb up. I am now a dance guru, which is not an inferior thing. The lifespan of women in films is short but I can continue to teach dance as long as I want to. I am happy that my work in Jayem Kondaan has been appreciated by all those who watched the two songs I have choreographed in the film at the music release function.
Post-marriage why are you reluctant to act?After doing so many films I do not want to do routine roles. If I get to act then it has to be an important role. But I know it is not easy. So I am happy being a choreographer.
You created a sensation by placing a leg on Prabhu Deva ’s shoulder in a song. Will you now choreograph something similar?Being a choreographer himself, Prabhu Deva understands the aesthetic aspect of a step or a movement. So it was easy for us to do the dance. As a choreographer, I will take my artistes into confidence and work accordingly.
If somebody says dance is for women and not men, how will you react?There’s no gender issue in dance. Don’t we worship Lord Shiva in the dancing pose?
If Kamal Haasan, Prabhu Deva and Bharath come to you at the same time and ask you to choreograph for their films, whose offer will you accept?Extremely difficult to answer. But I will accept Kamal Haasan’s film. I am sure Prabhu Deva and Bharath, whom I know well, will understand my predicament.
